Built on the current rules. The BC Private Training Regulation was last amended 1 January 2025, and many tuition-refund policies published online still show the old schedule. This calculator uses the version in the PTIRU Private Training Act Policy Manual published 3 November 2025, and tells you which rule applied to each result.
This calculator estimates the minimum tuition refund the regulation requires (the most an institution may keep). Your institution’s own published policy may return more, and you must apply your own policy. Percentages are measured by hours of instruction; date-based figures are estimates only. This tool is provided for general information, is not legal advice, and does not bind PTIRU — in any dispute, PTIRU’s determination and the current regulation govern. Verify against the current PTIRU Policy Manual.
No advice; no professional relationship. This calculator is a free informational tool. It is not legal, financial, accounting, or professional advice, and using it creates no advisory or professional relationship with Learnlynk. Do not rely on it as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional or from the Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit (PTIRU).
Estimate only; your responsibility to verify. The figures represent an estimate of the statutory minimum refund under the BC Private Training Regulation and PTIRU Policy Manual, current only as of the date shown. Legislation, regulations, and policy change. You are solely responsible for verifying every figure against the current regulation and PTIRU guidance, and for applying your institution’s own published tuition refund policy, before acting.
Provided “as is”; no warranty. The tool is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, currency, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Learnlynk does not warrant that the calculations are correct or error-free.
Limitation of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Learnlynk and its directors, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary loss or damage — including lost revenue, regulatory penalties, refund shortfalls or overpayments, or claims by students or third parties — arising out of or relating to your use of, or reliance on, this tool, even if advised of the possibility of such loss.
Indemnity. You agree to indemnify and hold Learnlynk harmless from any claim or demand arising out of your use of, or reliance on, the tool or its output.
Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. In any conflict between the tool’s output and the current Private Training Regulation, the regulation and PTIRU’s determination prevail.
